A note about TTFP's first production in August 2017:
I chose NEXT TO NORMAL for my company's first production because I remember the effect the show had on me when I first saw it. I was a new mother who had a complicated pregnancy and the subject touched me deeply. My understanding of mental health was minimal and it made me want to explore and learn more about it. Needless to say, the light was beginning to shine brightly and I knew it was a show and role I wanted to investigate further and bring to an audience who may not have had the chance to see the original production.
In the past few years, I have been affected personally by those who have suffered from some mental health condition. Thank you so much to my creative and production teams and my incredible cast for making TTFP's debut so successful and meaningful. I hope our bringing this show back helped bring some light to the darkness in which so many people live.
It all started when...
my roles of mother and teacher inspired a newfound passion to explore how families and relationships, especially women, specifically the mother role, are examined and portrayed in the arts. "Time To Fly" is a phrase I often use when my students are preparing to graduate or take the next step in their careers. It is also something I think about when I see my family and friends on the verge of a new chapter in their lives and how much courage it takes to spread our wings and fly towards the unknown with an open heart and an open mind.
My mission in starting Time To Fly Productions LLC is to mount theatrical productions, concerts and solo work and provide opportunities for new and established artists that inspire, nurture, challenge, amaze, educate and empower both the artist and audience.
I also believe in giving back to the community and helping organizations that serve it. Therefore, a portion of the proceeds for each show that my company produces will be donated to a charity that directly relates to the theme of the show.
